Welcome to our website. We are glad that you have found us on your travels, whether you are just passing through, exploring your faith journey, or just wondering what is going on in the world. Whether you are looking for a new church, or are just asking the big questions about life, you are very welcome.
A playful faith community where smiles, songs, and hugs flow freely.
As we adventure through life, our church is rooted in fellowship and community, meeting regularly to worship God and to have conversations about our faith journeys. We share what it means to be followers of Christ - this is really important to us here at Doxford Place.
We search for opportunities to take part in the local community and the wider world, reaching out to people with love and kindness.
We hope that you will feel very welcome as you explore your life journey with us at Doxford Place.
Sundays at Doxford Place
On a Sunday, we hope you will feel at home when you come through the door. We are a church that will welcome you, whoever you are and whatever is going on in your life.
We sing and pray together, and gather for conversation and drinks after the service.
Our minister, Rev. Richard, will always find the time whenever he can, to listen and to encourage all who visit us.
Do join us in worship and fellowship.
Fellowship that is there when you need it
Our church family comes from all walks of life and offers a safe and joyful place when you need it. We also leave space for people simply “to be”.
We work with social justice issues, helping out at the local Food Bank and helping other charities too.
We love scripture and enjoy bible studies together.
Why not come along and take part with us?

Experience Exchange
About 20 years ago, we experienced two wonderful holidays in places we never imagined we would ever visit --- South Africa and India.
In both countries we went off the usual tourist trails. We visited a township outside of Capetown in South Africa and saw the conditions people lived in.
In India – the sight of street children in Delhi, was heart wrenching. In a village in the North, the children were thrilled to show us a water pump for the village. It had been provided by a Japanese company.
Experiences like this made us ask ourselves – “Is there anything we can do, to use the skills we have, to offer in situations like this “.
After about a year of research we discovered a programme run jointly between the Methodist Church and the Anglican church through USPG. “Experience Exchange”.
It aimed to do exactly that!
Experience Exchange took volunteers like us and placed them in situations where we could share our abilities and skills with others overseas. We could serve for up to a year. We applied and after interviews, etc were “accepted unanimously”. We indicated that we would be prepared to go anywhere in the world.
Just before a week’s training/orientation at Queens College, Birmingham, in Summer 2008, we were asked if we would go to St Kitts and Nevis! We had to look at a map to discover that St Kitts was in the Caribbean!!
Eric resigned from his job at The Probation Service. Betty obtained “a career break “for 6 months from the NHS. We cashed in savings and in January 2009 after travelling for two days via the USA, we arrived in Basseterre, the capital of St Kitts, to help at “Maurice Hillier/Epworth Primary School”—a Junior school set up in the 1950’s by the Rev Maurice Hillier (hence the name).
Eric taught some classes, helped with others and mentored young staff members (mostly aged 18, and straight out of the classroom).
Betty helped groups of children with special needs, taught by a teacher from the neighbouring island of Nevis, who would travel over several times a week.
On other days Betty would help in the school office – territory she was much more familiar with!
We had the most amazing time, made good friends and would recommend what we did to anyone who feels similarly inclined!

A Short Reflection
Here at Doxford Place Methodist Church in Cramlington, we are part of what we call the Connexion, being part of the Methodist Church of Great Britain.
The Methodist Church in Great Britain calls us to look to be a growing, inclusive, faith sharing and justice seeking church.
Christ’s mission is to call people to Him, encouraging each of us to be all that we are called to be with the gifts we have been given. So often we hide those gifts, but through sharing our time together we learn that we are all full of amazing surprises!
God wants us to be the best we can be, and to live a life that enables us to flourish and grow within ourselves, with God and with our families and friends.
